This is an album for parents and kids alike. Great music with a great message. Mr. Rogers said the most important thing that we can teach kids is to love. This is the second life for Perfect Day. I collaborated with Jessi Teich on a few songs, but this was my favorite. Inspired by an actual snowstorm that finally passed in Philadelphia where she was while I was in California. I could literally imagine her dog’s tongue blowing in the wind out of the car window. The first version of this song, we had Andre de los Santos Morgan as the featured singer. Once Purple Fox and the Heebie Jeebies was formed, I only had to change one of the lines to make it perfect for our band.

I wrote this song with Denis Loiseau in San Francisco after one of the West Coast Songwriters conferences. He actually needed a place to sleep, as it was getting late after the conference and we didn’t want to stop writing. Luckily I had an extra bed in my hotel room and we wrote into the night. We had quite a few ideas we were developing with this song, focusing on children’s development and good education. Our Time Together was the original title, talking about how important it is to spend quality time with children.

I have a tendency that every time I see Cameron Stymeist, we end up writing a song in the first few minutes that we see each other. We didn’t get very far from the entrance of the TAXI music conference in LA, before we had written basically this entire song. And it wasn’t too long after that, that I sent off the original demo to Kenny Schick. His horns and Sabiné’s backup vocals stayed for this album version.
I love singing this one with my son Jude on our walks to school in the morning. And if you ever see us play it live, Jude plays a pretty mean solo slide whistle.

Another one that was written at a TAXI music conference. This one took much longer though. A few hours in my hotel room, Deborah, Mike, and Cameron thought I should change the rhythm in the chorus. But they didn’t hear the horn part I was envisioning. It’s the Something of -Bum-bum- Looove... I had to record a demo of what I was hearing to make it convincing. This one was featured as a TV studio performance in the second episode of Afternoon Snack. The first episode of Afternoon Snack won Hometown Media Awards Best Children's Programming by and independent producer in the nation!

This one basically started as a joke between me, Zane Forshee and Benjamin Verdery. When you are polite when you ask for something, there is a much better chance that you will not harsh their mellow. Brett, Kristen, and I developed the music together, and we wrote out the words at a diner while we were listening to the plethora of manners being said between the servers and the people eating, Please, Thank You, You’re Welcome, Sorry, S’Alright. I brought in Lucie to polish the lyrics. I brought in Jim, Nic, and Paul to put the finishing touches on the sonic atmospheres at the end. I love that my progressive rock band Fractal made it on this album!

A little form of gratitude. Appreciation is the thing to say. I tried to keep this one as simple as I could, but Brett, Kristen, and I can’t help but to put a little adventure in the music. This track really shows off Kristen’s melodic playing in the solo.

Sometimes sharing just doesn’t work. And this is one of the hardest things to say when you know that you have done something wrong. The instrumental break on the end was written in Tiny Telephone studio in San Francisco, in about 20 minutes before it was actually recorded. My daughter Jozy kept bugging me that she wanted to sing part of this song, and in my eyes it became the jewel of the track.

Thank you for saying s'alright, after I said sorry. I wrote this one walking home after dropping off the kids at school one day. It really does help to say you’re sorry, when you have done something wrong. Makes you feel better. Incorporated the music from the bridge of Thank You. I brought Brett and Kristen over one day to finalize the simplicity of the song and they wanted to write something complex to play.

My goal is to make a new version of this song for each album. I Love You, Infinity was originally written by me and Mike Lounibos. We recorded it on the first Purple Fox and the Heebie Jeebies album, the last track of that album My Purple Fox. For this version, with Mike's blessing, I developed the music with Brett and Kristen. Can you guess what the 3rd version is going to sound like?
